Of dark and stormy nights, Bulwer-Lytton, and gerbils

The 2010 Bulwer-Lytton Bad Fiction Writing Contest is in the books, and the winning entry inspired a shudder in me even as I read it the first time. Here's the winning gem, from Molly Ringle of Seattle, Washington:

"For the first month of Ricardo and Felicity's affair, they greeted one another at every stolen rendezvous with a kiss--a lengthy, ravenous kiss, Ricardo lapping and sucking at Felicity's mouth as if she were a giant cage-mounted water bottle and he were the world's thirstiest gerbil."

There are also winners in the western and mystery categories. Head on over! You do not want to miss them!
