A Shrewdness of Apes

An Okie teacher banished to the Midwest. "Education is not the filling a bucket but the lighting of a fire."-- William Butler Yeats

I'm thinking that, in heaven, Molly Ivins is chortling over this one.

The Texas lege has written another superb law.

Go read. I'll wait.

So the lines were set up to keep guns OUT after a shooting, but now, if you've got a gun, you can avoid the line and just walk on in. Classic.

And of course if you have the requisite permit you can bring any darn thing you please. Smart bunch of folks. You must be proud to be their neighbor.

Being an Okie makes living in the vicinity of Texas a laugh a minute-- so much to entertain, and it makes us feel good about our own idiocy (Jim Inhofe, anyone?).

Both amazing ladies-- am currently reading Molly Ivins- A Rebel Life. I highly recommend it! Ann plays a role in the story too, of course.
