Professional courtesy during Educator Appreciation Week-- an impossibility?

I emailed a question to a support staff person in my favorite support department three weeks ago. This person still has not deigned to reply.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

My classroom phone stopped working last Wednesday.
My classroom computer can't find any actual working printers.
The lamp in my LCD projector blew and the district is refusing to buy a new one.

Mostly I laugh so I don't cry.

I have been told by our school tech person, who does a pretty damn good job with what she is allowed to do, that when the bulb in my filmstrip projector goes out, it CANNOT be replaced. So, I am using it sparingly. ( Yes, I did say "filmstrip projector" !)

Those who use LCD projectors with their laptops have been told they get a replacement bulb for the LCD projector IF one is available. And, at this time, none are available. Several have been borrowing bulbs from those who don't show powerpoint presentations as often......

BUT, seriously, Ms. Cornelius, isn't it 'bout time you adjusted your expectations about those stressed out Tech people? Really, you must remember, they are probably busy dealing with administrative stuff and updating Vista operating systems to program #7 or whatever Windows is calling it.....and playing HALO, HEARTS, or trying to "score" with the witch in that new video game I've been hearing about......

Yes! Yet another example to file away under "stuff you wouldn't get away with in the private sector."

The tech department at my school NEVER replies. They either show up...or they don't...

What's a support staff person? Is that a person who's part of a support staff? Imagine having such a luxury as a support staff. If I had a support staff, I'd be too impressed to complain simply because they didn't do anything.

I'd just hang their useless phone number on the wall, if I had a wall to hang it, and look at it every now and then to remind myself how important I am.

No, they never answer anything by email. If I follow the "proper channels" and go through our media specialist (formerly known as librarian), I might have someone show up a month later. Usually it's too late because I've found someone else to fix the problem.
